Image classification from raw photos to reviewable results
Plan the collection, transformations, evaluation groups, and review process behind a meaningful visual classification.
Read the guide ↗Prepare photographic material for responsible visual research with consistent labels, source context, and careful review of crops and metadata.
Choose a specific photographic task rather than asking a model to understand everything visible. Record collection conditions and the meaning of each label. Avoid sensitive personal inferences from photographs. Permission to view an image should not be treated as permission to reuse it for every analytical purpose. Build practice collections from material whose intended use is clear.
Compare a proposed thumbnail, crop, or resized image with the original before approving an analysis pipeline. Keep orientation and context in mind when evaluating changes. A convenience transformation that works for one collection may remove the feature another task depends on. Include unreadable or out-of-scope photos in the review set so the workflow can abstain.
