BRAIN & IMAGING

Brainscan Neuro Browser

A reading guide to brain scan labels, report context, and the difference between structural images and other kinds of measurement.

Ask which scan is being discussed

The term brain scan can refer to different imaging approaches. The National Institute on Aging describes CT, MRI, and PET in dementia-related assessment and research. Their outputs answer different questions, so a generic image label is not enough context. Preserve the modality and purpose when taking notes, and avoid inferring a finding from a decorative or cropped visual.

Use the report as a conversation aid

For a personal clinical scan, discuss the written interpretation with the qualified team responsible for care. A browser can help organize questions or explain general terminology, but it should not replace that interpretation. Keep patient identifiers out of public notes, and do not use this website as an image viewer, triage tool, or diagnostic service.

Three questions to take with you

01Which modality produced the image?
02What question does the report address?
03Has the result been explained by the clinical team?
