AI browser agents: design permissions before automation
Define a browser agent’s authority, action gates, and stop conditions before allowing it into a research workflow.
Read the guide ↗Plan narrow, repeatable research helpers with observable inputs and outputs rather than loosely defined autonomous behavior.
A useful first bot might organize already-approved references by topic or prepare a draft reading checklist. Write down the input format, allowed labels, and review owner. Avoid assigning unrelated tasks simply because they fit inside a chat interface. The narrower the job, the easier it is to inspect a result and explain what remains for a person to decide.
Do not collapse a missing source, an invalid response, and an empty result into the same message. Give each outcome a clear status and preserve the original input. If the bot is allowed to use external tools, document that authority separately from its conversational instructions. This page is a design guide; no bot service or messaging integration is operated here.
